As a valued member of our leadership team, you will act as our Responsive Behaviors Program expert ensuring the goals of the program are met within the home and manages and corrects staff performance, as necessary.
This position is for our ThorntonView Home, located in Oshawa, ON.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinates the BSO interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds working collaboratively with social work, pharmacy and physicians
- Participates actively with the Professional Advisory Committee, Medical Advisory Committee, Quality Committee and other teams as required
- Completes all required reports and statistics as required for the home while overseeing completion of all documentation related to behaviors
- Sets goals, creates action plans and ensures follow up is completed
- Completes analysis, creates and presents detailed reports on quality indicators and medication use
What you bring
- Currently registered as an RPN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
- Extensive knowledge of P.I.E.C.E.S.TM, Gentle Persuasive Approach, U-First!, Montessori
- 3-5 years experience in long-term care
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health, addictions, other neurological conditions and those who experience an acute behavioral change
- Demonstrated commitment to the goals and principles of the Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) program
- Canadian certificate in Gerontology considered an asset
